I know, at this point, I’m talking to myself . . .

So let’s call it “journaling” instead of “blogging” for now. LOL As such, I’m going to share a little post I made on MeWe, so that I don’t forget that there are kind and decent people in the world and that I have a chance to be one of them. From MeWe, then:

I had a nice little lesson in generosity yesterday. But first, an admission.

I play Pony Island.

There it is. I breed and trade colorful ponies of all types with children of all ages. I actually have several accounts — a detail which is necessary to the story. So, now that my shameful secret is out, let me continue. 😉

PI subscriptions cost $14 for six months or $24 for a year. If you’re into breeding colorful ponies, it can be a good deal. PI has two forms of in-game currency, which can be bought and sold for real money. One way to play for “free” is to amass boatloads of in-game currency, which you trade for a subscription payment. It’s a time-honored PI tradition and I’ve amassed my share of in-game currency for the purpose. I recently made enough in-game currency to barter for a subscription, so I posted it on the “Non-Pony Trade” forum. The trade offer sat there for a week. Not a nibble. I raised my offer a bit and it sat there again.

Last night, after a long, tiring week of work and deer meat processing, I sat down to check on the cute ponies that had been born in my stables. I open my “Kardis” account and find the message, “a payment has been made to your account.” I returned to the trade link to find the message: “Paid, save your PG and BP ^_^ “

I was speechless. I posted a “thank you” and sent a brief message of thanks privately. I told my benefactor that “words fail me” — obviously not an easy thing to happen, but it did.

I don’t know this person IRL. I have barely interacted with her on the game, except to enter her contests on occasion. She did it because she had a little extra money and wanted to help some people out. She has no idea. Her $14 went a long way to renewing my faith in the people of this world and I went to bed happier than I’d been for a long time.

I know it’s been a long and rambling story, but just think about it a bit

(The picture is of Little Bit, my first PI pony, ever.).

Went to school for editing and psychology. Now shoveling goat poo and training dogs. I think I made a good trade off. :D
